This movie is silly, goofy, and simply fun. Shrek features the voices of Mike Meyers, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz, and John Lithgow. The humor is more subtle and clever, perhaps even more biting, than one expects in an animated feature. Don't expect Disney. The gags more closely resemble very good Warner Brothers before it was absorbed by the evil empire. Shrek does not really break any new ground, but it does something good animated classics are supposed to do: it entertains all the way to the toes, and it makes audiences feel great! The laughs are not so thick and furious that they overpower the plot, but you WILL laugh out loud repeatedly. The big surprise is how endearing and sweet the love story is. You'll most likely guess the "surprise" ending half way through, but you won't care. A terrific date movie, you'll be laughing but also have that "warm fuzzy" romantic feeling in the cockles of your heart. See it!
